Editors’ pick: Classic Car Show

Sunday, July 9

The place to find cabriolets, four on the floor, rumble seats and pony cars! Classic cars will line the 600 and 700 blocks of Washington Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s the 27th year for the rain or shine event, sponsored by the Mt. Lebanon Police Department. Proceeds benefit police youth programs.

Virginia Manor Tour

Saturday, August 5

Put on your walking shoes! This 90-minute tour, conducted by the Historical Society of Mount Lebanon, covers about a mile and a half and explores the history and architecture of one of Mt. Lebanon’s grandest neighborhoods. Tour starts at 10 a.m. at the entrance to Virginia Manor, the intersection of Cochran and Osage roads. Cost is $10 for historical society members and $15 for non-members.

Fiddlesticks in your Neighborhood

Enjoy some summertime family fun! The Pittsburgh Symphony’s musical ambassador, Fiddlesticks, takes a road trip to Bethel Park High School, 2:30 p.m., to share favorites like Do Re Mi and When You Wish Upon a Star. $15 for adults, $10 for kids.

Save the date: Uptown Unveiled

Saturday, August 5, noon to 6 p.m.

The long wait is over! The construction phase of the Vibrant Uptown streetscape is coming to an end, and we’re celebrating new sidewalks, lighting, electrical lines, planter boxes, seating, more pedestrian-friendly accessible crossings and updated plantings. As a reward for everyone’s patience, we’re throwing a street party. Celebrate the upgrade of our central business district with food, drink, live music and games. Ballet Under the Stars

Looking for some late summer fun? Gather your friends and family, pack your picnic blankets and head on over to Hartwood Acres for some family fun, followed by an evening of outdoor ballet from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Pre-show family fun from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Ballet performs at 8 p.m., free to the public.

Summer Short Course: Growing and Using Herbs

No green thumb? No worries! Phipps Conservatory and Penn State Extension will teach you how to grow and use herbs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The featured speaker is nationally recognized horticulturist Holly Shimizu.  Phipps Conservatory, One Schenley Park, Pittsburgh.

Black Music Festival

The Pittsburgh Black Music Festival, a celebration of the history and heritage of Black music in America, returns to Point State Park from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and features musical tributes to jazz, gospel, and soul.
