Trivia Quiz Night at the Library

Wednesday, October 26
Since the Mt. Lebanon Public Library is not a pub, they’re calling it Stone Cold Sober Trivia, which could be a plus for some and a minus for others. Questions start at 7 p.m. Team up in groups of up to four, with librarian Eric Meisberger serving as quizmaster. Compete for the chance to win excellent prizes, and of course, bragging rights. Harvest Festival

Sunday, October 9
Check out the Harvest Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church, 900 Country Club Drive. Enjoy food trucks, children’s games, a pumpkin sale and live music.

Trick or Treat for good

Saturday, October 8
Trunk or Treat! Dress up the kids and bring the family to this event hosted by the Mt. Lebanon Junior Women’s Club from 10 a.m. to noon at Mt. Lebanon Lutheran Church parking lot. Donations benefit Art Expression, helping underprivileged youth. $5 donation per child or $10 per family greatly appreciated.

ZooBoo

Saturdays and Sundays, October 22-23 and 29-30
Celebrate the return of ZooBoo, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium’s annual kid-friendly Halloween event. Trick-or-treat throughout the zoo and enter the not-so-scary haunt spots and create creepy crafts.

Pumpkin Patch Parade

The Pumpkin Patch Parade is back for another year of fun in Uptown. Costume up and join the parade starting at 11 a.m. on Washington Road. Interested in volunteering? Or, have a group that wants to participate? Register online.

Gypsy Stringz

Take a whirlwind tour of Eastern Europe without ever leaving Carnegie. The Gypsy Stringz perform at 7 p.m. in the newly improved studio of Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall. Tickets: $15 in advance/$20 at the door.

Tree Time

Show your Tree City USA pride by bringing the family to learn all about western Pennsylvania’s native trees and shrubs. The 1 to 4 p.m. event at the Bird Park fire circle includes short tours and family friendly hands-on activities. Sponsored by Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy and the Parks Advisory Board.

It’ll bring out the kid in you! Starting October 8, Phipps’ Fall Flower Show: Blooms Under the Big Top will take you on a tour of circus-and carnival-inspired displays. Reserve tickets in advance, but better hurry! The show lasts only three weeks.

The Automat @ the Library

The Mt. Lebanon Public Library and The Denis Theatre host a Zoom Q&A at 7 p.m. with Lisa Hurwitz, director of the 2021 documentary The Automat. The documentary centers on the vending machine, popular in the 20th century, that offered fresh food and drinks. The event takes place at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library, 16 Castle Shannon Boulevard. Register on the library website.
