Anawanda Arts Festival

The Anawanda Arts Festival is back from 11 a.m. to  4 p.m. at the corner of Anawanda Avenue and Castle Shannon Boulevard. Shop from a collection of handmade artwork, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, wearables and home goods made by local artists. Hands-on attractions include henna art, silk-screening your own T-shirts, kids’ crafts, a food truck and an open mic for all musicians starting at 1 p.m.

Tropical 5K

Saturday, September 17

Here’s an opportunity to support Lending Hearts and help beat cancer, all while running a 5K carrying a pineapple! The Hawaiian-themed Tropical 5K Classic at Hartwood Acres will have you crawling, climbing, bouncing and bending or walking your way to raising funds for The Stanley M. Marks Blood Cancer Research Fund and Lending Hearts. The event starts at 9 a.m. After the race, stick around and enjoy live music, food, drinks, awards and even more fun.

Holy Cross Greek Food Festival

Wednesday and Thursday, October 5-6
Hungry for Greek food? Mark your calendar for the annual Philoptochos Autumn Food Fair at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church Community Center, 123 Gilkeson Road. It runs from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day. Find Greek favorites like moussaka, tiropita, spanakopita, gyros, rice pudding, homemade soups and pastries. All proceeds benefit the philanthropic efforts of the Ladies Philoptochos Society.

Bargains Galore

These are just a few of the more than 60 items you can bid on at the Historical Society of Mount Lebanon’s annual fundraiser auction! The auction will be available online for a week beginning at 6 p.m., September 30.

Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival

Friday through Sunday, September 16-18
Get your groove on! The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival returns for its 12th year, with more than 100 musicians scheduled to perform, including jazz fusion pioneer Stanley Clarke and soul-funk icons Average White Band. The festival kicks off Friday, September 16 at 8 p.m. at the August Wilson African American Culture Center with a special performance by Ron Carter and the Foursight Quartet. The rest of the festival takes place at Highmark Stadium at Station Square.

Cabaret at the Carnegie Carnegie

Friday, September 16
LA TI DO is collaborating with The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall to present a new performance series featuring Pittsburgh-themed cabarets with artists and special guests from the city and greater Pittsburgh region. Tickets: $20 in advance/$25 at the door.

Pittsburgh Irish Festival

Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11
Erin Go Bragh! Celebrate the Irish experience in America through dance, music, literature and authentic Irish food and drink. The Pittsburgh Irish Festival kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday, September 9, at the Carrie Blast Furnaces on the Waterfront, 801 Carrie Furnace Boulevard, and wraps up Sunday, September 11 at 5 p.m.
