A phrase we, and similar publications, often use in our writing is “at press time” or “at the time this was written.” The reason for that is because the magazine production process is a long one—we’re usually writing stories two months before publication, designing them a month and a half out, and the files go to our printers at Knepper Press almost a month before they arrive in your home.

So as you can imagine, writing an events listing two months ahead has its challenges during a pandemic. At the time this was written, COVID-19 cases were on the rise again and restrictions were changing daily, and we were wondering, “How many activitiy and event listings will still be valid by September?” For this reason, our September listing will focus on the local events that we find most likely to go on as planned—virtual ones!
