EDITORS’ PICK: Beverly Road Sweet Walk EVENT POSTPONED
Saturday, April 4, 1 to 3 p.m.
For one day only, Beverly Road turns into Candyland. Restaurants, retailers and businesses bring their best confections and face off to see who wins first, second, and third places at the first-ever Beverly Road Sweet Walk. Check in at Paper Reign, on Overlook Drive, and get a rating card and also your first sweet thing of the day. Move through the street. Sample. Move on. Nosh. Move on. When you’re through, vote for your favorite, which also gets you into a raffle for swell prizes. Tickets are $10. Find them online at eventbrite.com, search for “Sweetest Street in Lebo.”

NATIONAL EIGHT-TRACK TAPE DAY
Saturday, April 11
If you are of a certain age, you probably have memories of cruising down the road, blasting out some tunes that went something like: “Smooooke on (gzzzz … grrrng … chuckchuckchuck … CLANK) the waa-aterr…”.  Did you know the eight-track was created by Bill Lear, who also involved reps from multiple car companies and recording companies, thus proving once again the greatness that can come out of a huge unmanageable committee. By the early ’80s, eight-tracks were replaced by cassette tapes, which were replaced by CDs, which are being replaced by the vinyl records they also replaced … anyway.

GARDEN & LANDSCAPE TALK CANCELLED
Saturday, April 25
Penn State Extension and the Master Gardeners of Allegheny County will present a garden and landscape symposium from 8 to 4 at the Hampton Community Center in Allison Park. This year’s keynote speaker is Ken Druse, award-winning author and photographer who has been called the “guru of natural gardening” by the New York Times. Cost of the symposium is $120. Browse the Garden Marketplace, also in the Hampton Community Center, which features new and hard-to-find perennials, annuals and shrubs, and books, tools and accessories from more than 20 specialty vendors.

OUTLAW MUSIC
Wednesday, April 29
Music has an elemental power that can resonate deep in our souls—power that can terrify oppressors so much that they will try to snuff it out. At 7 p.m., Temple Emanuel of South Hills will host the Clarion Quartet, which will perform Entartete Musik, works that were termed “degenerate” by the Nazis and banned during the years leading up to the Holocaust through the immediate aftermath of World War II. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

NIGHT AT THE SPEAKEASY RESCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 10
Thursday, June 25
Outreach Teen & Family Services’ annual fundraiser, Night at the Speakeasy, is from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel. Tickets are $125, or $150 for VIP, and can be purchased online. KDKA-TV’s Ken Rice will emcee the event. Mobile bidding on auction items starts May 1. Questions? Call 412-561-5405 or email info@outreachteen.org.

Tickets start at $55 and should be purchased in advance.

DOGWOOD DAYS

The real showoffs of springtime—dogwood trees—will be in full bloom at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. Events are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,  and are included with Daily Admission to the garden.

PERCUSSION PERFORMANCES
Saturday, April 25
Thursday to Saturday, May 21 to 23
