PUMPKIN PATCH PARADE
Saturday, October 27

Start the Halloween candy binge early by trick-or-treating with your kiddos at Uptown businesses on Saturday, October 27 following the Recreation Department’s Pumpkin Patch Parade. The parade, which begins at 11 a.m., in Uptown Mt. Lebanon, is always a great photo op and a chance for both adults and kids to try out the costumes they’ll wear on Halloween (too hot, too tight, can’t see???).

EDITORS’ PICK: DOORS OPEN PITTSBURGH

FESTIVAL OF FIRSTS

New-to-Pittsburgh theater, dance, music, visual arts and immersive experiences will take over the Cultural District. KIM FOX AT CONTEMPORARY CRAFT
Now through January 5, 2019

One of our favorite local artists, Academy Avenue resident Kim Fox, is being showcased in Contemporary Craft’s Handwork Gallery located in the lobby of the Steel Plaza T station downtown. This free exhibition features Fox’s untraditional quilts, created at her Worker Bird studio and inspired by her urban surroundings and the natural Pennsylvania landscape. GENEALOGICAL PROBLEM SOLVING

Nationally recognized genealogy lecturer Elissa Scalise Powell will be the guest speaker at the Mt. Lebanon Genealogical Society’s October meeting. Her presentation at 1 p.m. in Mt. Lebanon Public Library will focus on Techniques for Successful Problem Solving.

GREEK FOOD FEST RETURNS Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church’s Autumn Food Fair is Wednesday, October 3 through Friday, October 5. Open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., at 123 Gilkeson Road. Greek favorites including moussaka, spanakopita, pastitsio and homemade baklava, diples and other pastries. The popular Yiayia Joan’s Attic Treasures rummage sale returns. Takeout is available, but there is no phone, fax or online ordering.

Pride and Prejudice</a

AAP’s Annual Exhibition

Since its founding in 1910, the Annual Exhibition has become the highlight of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh’s (AAP) exhibition season. This year, the Annual Exhibition will be held at 2708 Sidney Street in the South Side and it will showcase the most recent work of selected AAP membership, which includes artists within a 150-mile radius of Pittsburgh. Exhibition hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. www.AAPgh.org.
