The Uptown Farmers Market kicks off from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 12, on Washington Road! Peruse fresh produce and handmade gifts and enjoy music by Mt. Lebanon’s own bluegrass legends, The Mackin Family. The market will be open every Saturday throughout the summer.
AN EVENING OF PERCUSSION
Celebrate all things percussion—from nationally recognized concert ensembles to our very own Lebo drumline and pit—at this community favorite event. Concerts are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, and Friday, May 25, and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, at the Mt. Lebanon High School Fine Arts Theater. Tickets are available online.
PILATES!
Join Mt. Lebanon’s Pilates Center of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre at a Pilates party! From 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 20, at the new Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre studios in the Strip District, guests can enjoy a 60-minute class taught by three instructors and the chance to mingle with other Pilates enthusiasts in the Pittsburgh area. RELAY DAY
Teams are already forming up for Mt. Lebanon’s Relay for Life, a community-wide fundraiser for all types of cancer. This year’s 24-hour event is in Mt. Lebanon High School stadium beginning at 7 p.m., Friday, June 22. Relay for Life, a signature national event of the American Cancer Society, helps raise money for programs, treatments and research to prevent cancer and to help those who are diagnosed. Teams will circle the Mt. Lebanon track for 24 hours in exchange for pledges for the charity. If you’re not on a team, you can still enjoy games, raffles, food, crafts, music and entertainment for all ages. All proceeds go to fight cancer.

SERAPHIC SINGERS
Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church will host the Seraphic Singers, a 12-voice professional women’s chorus at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May, 6. The performance will include two pieces by German composer Simon Wawer, a duet from Delibes’ Lakme’s The Call of the Flowers, and Sing Me to Heaven, with lyrics by Jane Griner and music by Daniel E. Gawthrop.

STORIES OF THE KING 
Chris Rodell, Mt. Lebanon Class of ’81, is coming to Mt. Lebanon Public Public Library at 7 p.m. , Thursday, May 31, to talk about his book Arnold Palmer: Homespun Stories of the King. The book offers a new take on the sports legend, as Rodell was a friend of Palmer. Drawing on more than 100 interviews and his own acquaintance with Palmer, Rodell delves into Palmer’s character and his relationship to his hometown, Latrobe.
Over the past 30 years, Family Hospice and Palliative Care’s annual golf benefit has raised more than $1.9 million for the organization. Add your support this year on Monday, May 14, at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray. The event will feature 18 holes of golf, auctions, a Hole-in-One contest for $50,000 and an awards dinner.
What’s your favorite decade of Warhol? If you are a fan of Mad Men-era Warhol, you won’t want to miss the Warhol Museum’s new exhibit Adman: Warhol Before Pop, featuring more than 300 objects including drawings of women’s fashions, shoes, album covers, recreations of department store window displays and more from the formative years in his career. The exhibition is open through September 2.
Did you know that Pittsburgh is home to one of the nation’s largest children’s festivals? The Pittsburgh Children’s Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Friday, May 18, to Sunday, May 20, in the Cultural District. Guests of all ages can enjoy great food and entertainment, while exploring the world through theater, live music, dance and puppetry.
