Mt. Lebanon Library’s Summer Reading Club starts off Sunday, June 26. You can’t just go into a reading marathon cold. You need to tune up, body, mind, spirit. Keeping that in mind, the library is hosting lawn yoga that day on the Southminster Church lawn, from 1 to 2:30, and from 2:30 to 4. Ankit Goyal, owner of Fresh From the Farm Juices, will be juicing up a storm, and at the same time, you can talk with a nutritionist to get some tips about how to make your diet healthier without too much suffering.

Start off the 2016 First Friday street festival season with the truckers and the kickers and the fallen angels. The Grievous Angels, a roots, rock and blue-eyed soul band featuring Lebo’s Stacy Innerst on drums will take the main stage at Clearview Common at 7 on Friday, June 3. First Fridays runs from 7 to 10 p.m., the first Friday in June, July and August.

Where do you go when your shoes are so hot you wish your tired feet were fireproof? Down on the boardwalk. Fortunately, Boardwalk on Beverly, the annual sidewalk sale on Beverly Road, will happen Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beverly Road will remain open for traffic, but the sidewalks will be full of music, specials from stores, tables, face painters for the kids and about 10 art vendors. The retail shops will offer specials and the restaurants will welcome your business.

St. Clair Hospital’s 19th Annual Summer Swing fundraiser, this year with the theme “Passport to the World,” will take place at St. Clair Country Club on Friday, July 15, and Monday, July 18. On Friday, guests will enjoy a summer evening of entertainment and gourmet foods from around the world. The Donald J. Hastings Golf Classic will be held Monday at St. Clair Country Club’s Championship 18-hole golf course. More than 600 guests attended last year’s Summer Swing, raising more than $300,000. From June 27 to July 6 at Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center, The National Collegiate Clay Court Championships, traditionalliy called the West Penn, will bring top college tennis players from all over the country to Mt. Lebanon. A big part of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Summer Circuit, the tournament is the oldest clay court event in the United States, held since 1889. The USTA Pro Circuit Men’s Futures Professional Tennis Tournament also takes place that week at the Cedar Boulevard courts. Matches go on all day, with feature matches from 5 to 6.

The Fourth! July Fourth may anagram into Hurtful Joy, but if past experience is anything to go by, Mt. Lebanon’s Independence Day celebration is long on joy, and not at all hurtful. On Monday, July 4, games and activities for kids start at noon in Mt. Lebanon Park. All-star softball and baseball games go from 9 to 5. Petting zoo, Eurobungy (like regular bungee but with a continental flair, most likely), climbing wall and pony rides. The acoustic trio Tres Lads are in concert in the park at 7:30, followed at about 9:30 by (we may be a little biased here) the absolute best fireworks display you may ever see. Rain date for the best fireworks you’ll ever see is July 5.

Spoonwood Brewing, on Baptist Road in Bethel Park, is hosting Sip into Summer, 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday June 5, to benefit the Denis Theatre. Cost is $50 per person, and includes live music by Root 19, a silent auction, pizza, salad, wings, and one drink. www.denistheatre.org/events [8].
