Visions of the Natural World is the title of a solo show by Mt. Lebanon native and well- known landscape painter Linda Read Arnold at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA)in Westmoreland County through August 29. An oil painter who has a studio in New York City and exhibits in galleries around the country, Arnold often works en plein air. She painted all the works for the exhibition on site in the green, woodsy Ligonier Valley, where SAMA is located. While best-known for her impressionistic, often abstract seascapes, Arnold, who grew up on Osage Road, welcomed a chance to experiment with a different color palate. Memorial Day weekend marks the Mt. Lebanon Percussion Ensemble’s year-end concert. A remarkable array of ensembles–Brazilian and African, Concert, Drum Set, Drum Line and Front—take the high school auditorium stage. Thursday and Friday concerts are at 7:30 p.m., May 26 and 27. Saturday, May 28, offers a matinee at 1 p.m., and evening concert/ senior recognition night at 7 p.m. Evening tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for students. Matinee tickets are $9 for all ages.
