ligonier valley art

Visions of the Natural World is the title of a solo show by Mt. Lebanon native and well- known landscape painter Linda Read Arnold at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA)in Westmoreland County through August 29. An oil painter who has a studio in New York City and exhibits in galleries around the country, Arnold often works en plein air. She painted all the works for the exhibition on site in the green, woodsy Ligonier Valley, where SAMA is located. While best-known for her impressionistic, often abstract seascapes, Arnold, who grew up on Osage Road, welcomed a chance to experiment with a different color palate. See her work at www.sama-art.org or www.lindaarnoldstudio.com. To meet her at the free opening reception May 6 from 6 to 8 p.m., call 724-238-6015.
