ULTRAparty is back this year to take over Washington Road on Saturday, August 2, from 8 P.M. to midnight, presented by the Mt. Lebanon Partnership. This year, Radio Tokyo will take to the stage, with a danceable mix of alternative, hip hop, rock and pop covers. Check out their YouTube channel, Radio Tokyo Rocks. Admission is a suggested $5 donation, which gets people over 21 a wristband to buy beer supplied by Wilson-McGinley. In addition to the Partnership, proceeds go to Accessible Lebo to help buy easy-to-use play equipment for Mt. Lebanon playgrounds. The Saloon of Mt Lebanon is a sponsor. ULTRAparty will include an attempt to break a world record for most balloon hats, so don’t forget to bring your head Uptown. Also new this year, the party will strive to be zero waste, with all recyclables collected, and power supplied by Zero Fossil.

How can you not love a form of exercise with poses named Happy Baby and Cow Face?

The 8th annual Karma Yoga will be held on the manse lawn at Southminster Church, 799 Washington Road, on Wednesday, July 9, from 7 to 8:15 P.M. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. This year’s beneficiary is the Ward Home, a Pittsburgh nonprofit that helps teens in foster care as they navigate through high school and transition into the workforce or go on to post-secondary education.

They say you can’t sing the blues on a full belly. On July 25-27, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is bringing some top line blues musicians to Hartwood Acres, to fill bellies. On Friday, a bag of groceries pays your way in to hear Norm Nardini and Bernard Allison. Saturday, the daylong concert features the legendary Mac Rebennack, the Night Tripper, AKA Dr. John; Albert Cummings Wesley Bright and the Hi-Lites and Trampled Under Foot. Sunday, the stage is dominated by blue-eyed soul powerhouse JJ Grey & Mofro, the Spin Doctors and the Ben Miller Band. Get tickets here.

The USTA Pro Circuit Men’s Professional Tennis Tournament runs from June 30 to July 6 at the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center on Cedar Boulevard. Also that week, college contenders from all over the country will convene for the National Collegiate Clay Court Championships, a big part of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Summer Circuit, and the oldest clay court event in the U.S., held since 1889. Matches go on all day, with feature matches from 5 to 6.
