PURSE BASH You could look for a great deal on a designer handbag on eBay, or you could spend $35 for a chance to win one at Outreach Teen and Family Services Ladies Night Out Purse and Cash Bash, 6 p.m., Friday, January 17, at Castle Shannon Fire Hall. Sally Wiggin will host the event, and your ticket includes food, beer, wine, a signature cocktail and two chances to win fabulous purses from designers such as Coach, Burberry, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Ted Baker (London) and more. And have we mentioned the Chinese auction and the chance to win cold, hard cash—which, if you don’t win a purse, you can use to buy one. Details and tickets at 412-561-5405, or email info@outreachteen.org. www.outreachteen.org.

ClaireSchuchmanMASTER YOUR GARDEN You’ve read her gardening articles in mtl; now you can take a class with Phipps Master Gardener Claire Schuchman. The three-session landscape design class begins 6 p.m., Monday, February 24, at Mt. Lebanon Library. The course, geared to the novice, uses concepts of sustainable design like right plant/right place, use of hardy native plants and installing rain barrels. Students should bring graph paper, different colored pencils, a ruler, a few stakes, 18”- 24” tracing paper and, if possible, a plot plan or survey of their property. During the class, there will be discussions about the five elements of good design and the tools needed to accomplish each plan. No advance registration is required and the class is free. 412-531-1912. www.mtlebanonlibrary.org
