*Bonus blog with breaking news on the Uptown Farmers Market

We made it to spring, and, like flowers, the farmers markets soon will be opening.

The Mt. Lebanon Uptown Farmers Market starts on May 11. A project of the Mt. Lebanon Partnership, it runs from 9 a.m. to noon into October.

Market manager Lisa Winschel says they’re still working on the list of vendors — “in all reality, it is constantly changing” — but here are the ones she expects will set up in the heart of the Washington Road business district:

Simmons Farm [1]
Skelly’s Herbs
Arlia’s Apiary
Quiroz Farm
The Cheese Monger
Silviya’s Pierogies
Najat’s Cuisine [2]
Zrimm’s Farm
West Heritage Farm [3]
Cinco de Mayo Salsa
Mediterra Bakehouse [4]
Logan Family Farms [5]
Three Rivers Hydroponics [6]
La Vigneta Winery
Sugar Cafe
lebofarmersmarket [7]

The Wednesday Mt. Lebanon Lions Farmers Market will open June 12 and run all the way through October this year at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church at 975 Washington Road. The hours once again will be 4 to 7 p.m.
“We are supposed to have everyone back that was there last year,” my farmer friend Frank Zitibrosky told me earlier this week after the market organizers met. “The mushroom man will alternate on every other week with a new salsa person.”
