Get your fill of automotive artistry at the Mt. Lebanon Police Department’s Car Show, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 6, along Washington Road. The day features music by Trainwreck (noon to 4 in Clearview Common), vendors, food and of course, classic cars. The Mt. Lebanon Police Department and the Mt. Lebanon Police Association sponsor this family-friendly event with help from Mt. Lebanon Sunrise Rotary, the Mt. Lebanon Recreation Department and the Pontiac Oakland Club of Western Pennsylvania. Proceeds benefit the police department’s youth programs. Washington Road will be closed to street traffic from Lebanon Avenue to Cedar Boulevard beginning at 8 that morning.

In a gardener’s mind, all gardens are enchanting no matter the style, theme or design. Mt. Lebanon Library’s annual garden tour—11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 13—will offer seven enchanting gardens of different designs. They’ll provide good ideas for anyone who wants to create a space in which to enjoy the outdoors.
Helene and Regis McQuaide, White Oak Circle, extended the living area of their renovated home to include a patio and garden.
After taking a landscape course, Bob and Marina Lauver transformed their sloped Roycroft Avenue backyard with garden rooms and water features that require limited maintenance.
Susan Gove and John Davis purchased their Moreland Drive home based almost entirely on the potential of the outdoor space.

Tickets to the tour are $15 and will be available at the library after the middle of June. You also can buy tickets for $20 the day of the tour. The library’s pre-tour garden party is 6 p.m., Saturday, July 12, in the library courtyard. Tickets are $30 at the library or at the door.

Tennis tournament The USTA Pro Circuit Men’s Professional Tennis Tournament and the National Collegiate Clay Court Championships run from Monday, June 30, to Sunday, July 6, at Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center. Matches begin at 9 a.m. and go on all day with feature matches at 5 or 6 p.m. Tournament director is Lebo head pro Hank Hughes. If you’ve sworn off camping ever since Deliverance, here’s a good way to ease back in. The National Wildlife Federation’s 10th annual Great American Backyard Campout is June 28. Put up a tent in the backyard—well within reach of indoor plumbing—and the NWF board of directors and other donors will give $2 to the organization’s wildlife conservation efforts.
