Community Recycling Events

PRC is scheduling events for collection of glass and other materials. Check their website [1] for up-to-date info.

The Mt. Lebanon Public Works Department will be hosting a monthly series of recycling events through September. Events will be held at the public works facility, 1250 Lindendale Drive.

Electronic Recycling  10 a.m. to 2 p.m. One free TV per vehicle. Appliances with refrigerant cost $25. April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21 and September 18.

Paper Shredding 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shredding fee is $8 per banker’s box, cash or checks only. April 24, May 22, June 26, July 24, August 28 and September 25.

Household Hazardous Waste  9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is required. Rates for materials vary. Rates and registration information are at www.nobleenviro.com [2]. May 1 and July 31.

WOODY WASTE CURBSIDE PICKUP April 10, May 8, June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11 and October 2. Reservation is required. Call 412-343-3403, between Monday and no later than 4:30 p.m. on the Thursday before pickup. Material is limited to shrubs, tree branches and limbs. Materials must be on the curb before 7 a.m. on the pickup day. Follow these guidelines:

Remove all dirt and debris from the roots of shrubs. No soil, rocks, leaves, grass clippings and ornamental grasses.

Place small branches into piles (not bound) not exceeding 24 inches in diameter and 48 inches in length.

Large tree limbs should be no longer than 6 feet in length and no thicker than 5 inches in diameter.

The total amount put out for any pickup cannot exceed more than can be placed into a single pickup truck. If the above guidelines are not followed, the materials will be left at the curb.

WOODY WASTE DROPOFF Drop off your yard waste at the golf course maintenance facility on Pine Avenue, on the first Saturday of the month, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., through October 2. Leaves and garden residues in recyclable paper bags, small twigs, shrubs, brush and branches (under 3 feet) are accepted. No grass clippings, stones, soil, stumps, large limbs or plastic bags accepted.

GLASS RECYCLING The Pennsylvania Resource Council’s (PRC) traveling glass recycling bin will be on the move again this year. PRC brings the bin to each location from Saturday through Thursday, open for collection during daylight hours. PRC will accept clean glass bottles, jars and jugs. The items do not need to be separated by color, and lids and labels do not need to be removed.

The bin will follow the schedule below.
