Community Recycling Events

September is the last month of the year for Mt. Lebanon’s paper shredding and electronic recycling events. Because of heavy demand, these recycling events are limited to Mt. Lebanon residents only. Both recycling events take place at the Mt. Lebanon Public Works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES Saturday, September 21. One free TV per vehicle. Mercury bulbs $2 each and $25 for appliances with refrigerant.
PAPER SHREDDING Saturday September 28.
Other community recycling events:
GLASS The Pennsylvania Resource Council will accept all colors of glass bottles and jars. No window glass, drinking glasses, stemware or ceramics. The free events are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., September 21 at Dormont Pool, 1801 Dormont Avenue, October 12 at the Commissioners’ Lot in Mt. Lebanon Park and October 19 at the Scott Township Municipal Building, 301 Lindsay Road.
WOODY WASTE CURBSIDE PICKUP Saturday, September 14 and October 5. Reservation is required. Call 412-343-3403, between Monday and no later than 4:30 p.m. on the Thursday before pickup. Material is limited to shrubs, tree branches and limbs. Materials must be on the curb before 7 a.m. on the pickup day. Follow these guidelines:
Remove all dirt and debris from the roots of shrubs. We will not pick up soil, rocks, leaves, grass clippings and ornamental grasses.
Place small branches into piles (not bound) not exceeding 24 inches in diameter and 48 inches in length.
Large tree limbs should be no longer than 6 feet in length and no thicker than 5 inches in diameter.
The total amount put out for any pickup cannot exceed more than can be placed into a single pickup truck. If the above guidelines are not followed, then the materials will be left at the curb.
YARD WASTE DROP-OFF Drop off your yard waste at the golf course maintenance facility on Pine Avenue, on the first Saturday of the month, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., through October 5. Leaves and garden residues in recyclable paper bags, small twigs, shrubs, brush and branches (under 3 feet) are accepted. No grass clippings, stones, soil, stumps, large limbs or plastic bags accepted.
