Mt. Lebanon businesses are bouncing back after a challenging year, and, as always, the Mt. Lebanon Commercial Districts manager, Eric Milliron, is there to support them. With help from The Mt. Lebanon Partnership, a nonprofit development corporation, Milliron’s job is to support businesses and professional organizations in our three main business districts—Washington Road, Beverly Road and Castle Shannon Boulevard. Together they plan special events, maintain municipal flower beds and execute business campaigns, like the ongoing Love Lebo project that has been connecting residents with local businesses since the start of the pandemic. Milliron also works with the Economic Development Council, a seven-member board charged with advising the Mt. Lebanon Commission on economic and community development.
Uptown (Washington Road)
Our central business district, Uptown, is getting an extensive makeover starting this summer, but don’t worry—businesses will remain open! The Vibrant Uptown project was launched in August 2019, and it is currently moving from its development phase into the construction phase. Projects include sidewalk, planter and street light replacement, and the development of community gathering spaces.
Events usually held in Uptown include Lebo Light Night, First Fridays, the Artists’ Market and the Uptown Market—a farmers market from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays starting May 8 in the South Lot, across from Washington Elementary. Masks and social distancing are required.
When this was written, the Mt. Lebanon Artists’ Market, a juried art fair usually featuring 60 to 80 local artists, was being tentatively planned for October 2 and 3 in the Academy Avenue parking lot. Milliron and the Mt. Lebanon Partnership were also considering how to safely bring back First Fridays, a summertime street party centered around concerts in Clearview Common. All events are subject to change or cancellation, depending on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beverly Road
The Beverly Road business district runs along Beverly Road from Overlook Drive to Ralston Place. Beverly Road offers shoppers a great mix of retail and services, from restaurants to boutique shops to fitness and wellness centers. Beverly Road businesses sometimes host sidewalk sales and special events, including Beverly Brite Nite in December.
Castle Shannon Boulevard
The Castle Shannon Boulevard commercial corridor is located in the southwestern section of the municipality near the Castle Shannon border. It consists of restaurants and other smaller retail and service-oriented businesses. Most business in the corridor are “destination” businesses.

PARKING
Mt. Lebanon provides more than 1,000 public parking spaces in and around our business districts. Almost all our metered spaces take cash and credit cards and the Passport parking app allows you to pay for any metered space in Mt. Lebanon using your smartphone.
Two multilevel parking garages are located in the Washington Road business district. The district also includes on-street metered parking and several surface lots. The Beverly Road business district has both on-street metered parking and a surface lot.
The Academy Avenue, Overlook Drive and South parking lots features a “Pay by Plate” payment system. Users park their vehicles, go to one of the stations, pay for the time they want, enter their license plate number. Coins, bills and credit/debit cards are accepted. Drivers can also pay using the Passport app.
The Overlook lot also has a charging station for electric vehicles. The station includes two Level 2 charging ports, capable of adding 10 to 20 miles of range per charging hour. Users pay by the hour to help offset the cost of the electricity. To use the station, you must create an account with ChargePoint. A QR code for the app appears on the charger display to allow for easy download.
Permit parking is available for both surface lots and garages. Monthly permits in either garage are $95 for residents and $104 for non-residents. Daytime permits, good from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., are $99 per month in the North Garage and $90 per month in the South Garage. Night permits, from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m., are $40 per month in either garage. In the Academy, Alfred and Overlook lots, monthly permits are $85, daytime permits, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., are $80 per month and night permits, 5 p.m. to 10 a.m., are $38. For the Hilf Street lot, monthly permits are $70, daytime permits are $65 and night permits, from 5 to 10 p.m., are $38. Only night parking permits are available at the Cedar Boulevard and LRT Station lots. They are $38 per month and allow parking from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
