Hoover Elementary School is the venue for this year’s Arbor Day celebration at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 25. A joint production between the municipality and the Mt. Lebanon School District, the event will include student poetry and music, remarks by Hoover principal Dr. Nicci Giehll, school board president Valerie Fleischer and Mt. Lebanon Commissioner Craig Grella, followed by the reading of a Tree City proclamation and a tree planting on school grounds. Mt. Lebanon has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA since 2007, and the Arbor Day celebration is one of the requirements for maintaining that status.
Mt. Lebanon celebrates Earth Day, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 27, in Mt. Lebanon Park. The event will feature a variety of local businesses, offering energy-efficient products, local artisans, a clothing swap nonprofits, green building and construction resources, the Mt Lebanon High School Environmental Club, music, representatives from Mt. Lebanon’s Resiliency Board, local Girl Scout troops, and many other eco-minded vendors.
