caring for more than just hair
Salon Vivace, 642 Washington Road, is in the business of making people feel good about themselves, but this month it’ll take that mission one step further. On October 30, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., they will present a benefit to raise awareness about domestic violence. The evening will incorporate fashion, style and skincare tips with snippets of information on domestic violence throughout the evening at the salon. A representative of Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania, or DVSSP, will speak alongside several stylists and professionals from the salon, while attendees can enjoy a glass of wine, light appetizers and a DJ.
Christopher Langlois, a stylist at Salon Vivace, says that domestic violence’s stigma is that of a lower-class problem, but that it affects everyone. “We should take care of all of us,” he says.
A suggested donation at the door of any amount will go to DVSSP and small purse charms will be sold as raffle “tickets,” giving attendees a chance to win a purple Coach purse. While the event is meant to address domestic violence in a general sense, a counselor will be on hand for those who’d like to speak to someone in-depth about the issue.
An RSVP is preferred. Call Salon Vivace at 412-344-9707 to RSVP and find out more information.
