but wait, there’s more…act now
In case you hadn’t heard, you have a second chance to appeal your 2013 real estate tax assessment. Although the original deadline was a year ago, many people missed the deadline and purchasers during 2012 missed the opportunity unless the sellers had filed an assessment appeal. However, even those who were disappointed with the results of their appeal last year can have a second bite of the apple.
Yes, that’s right. Even if you appealed last year and didn’t like the outcome, you can do it again! Or even if you appealed to Common Pleas Court — or didn’t — you can try, try again. But, as they say on the TV commercials, this opportunity is available for a limited time only.
A form is posted on the Allegheny County Website at the following link: http://www.county.allegheny.pa.us/opa/2013_AppealFormFill-In.pdf. This form must be postmarked or delivered by April 1 to the Allegheny County Board of Property Assessment Appeals and Review, County Office Building, Third Floor, 542 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
