Just about everyone in town knows Mike Riemer. A Mt. Lebanon police officer for more than 25 years, many of which were spent in the crime prevention unit, “Officer Mike” was a fixture in the classrooms and at community events. After he retired from service, he was elected to the Mt. Lebanon School Board and went on to a second career as director of emergency services for the Salvation Army in Western Pennsylvania.
[1]Riemer has been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease and needs a kidney transplant. When a donor is found, insurance will cover most of the cost of the approximately $250,000 transplant. But life-long followup care including anti-rejecton drugs is very expensive. So friends are coming together to help. There will be a spaghetti dinner and concert from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Bower Hill Community Church. Tickets are $10 for adults, $12 at the door. Children ages 6 to 13 are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Children 5 and younger eat free. All proceeds will go to Riemer’s medical bills.
The Mt. Lebanon High School Fashion Club is donating half the proceeds from its annual fashion show, 7 p.m., Friday, May 15, at the high school, to the fund.
