Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy’s Holiday for the Birds

Make a Gingerbread House 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 6. Children ages 3 and older and their families can build and decorate a gingerbread house and hear stories. The library will supply the cartons and graham crackers; participants should bring a can of icing and leftover Halloween candy to decorate their houses. Register at 412-531-1912.

The Pittsburgh Department Store: Everything Under the Sun 7 p.m., Thursday, December 8. Take a trip back to the holiday shopping of yesteryear. This Heinz History Center presentation will take you back to the days when the Horne’s tree really was the Horne’s tree.

Hanukkah Celebration 4 p.m., Thursday, December 8. Celebrate Hanukkah with Temple Emanuel Librarian Paula Altschul in this family friendly program for kids ages 3 and up and their families. Register at 412-531-1912.

Cookie Decorating with Bella Christie 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 14. Learn simple cookie decorating techniques for the upcoming holiday season with the talented folks from Bella Christie Bakery www.asweetboutique.com. Kosher and gluten free cookies too. Wet Felted Ornaments 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 13. Fiber artist Judé Ernest will teach how to wet felt wool fibers and yarn around a shape to create one-of-a-kind ornaments for display or to wear. Kwanzaa Celebration 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 28. An evening of West African music and crafts with camara drum and dance. taught by Yamoussa Camara, who teaches West African dance at Carnegie Mellon and Point Park universities. After the performance, enjoy crafts and light refreshments.
