Storytimes for 2s and 3s

9:30 to 10 and 10:30 to 11 a.m., Thursday, April 3, Story Room

Discover delightful fingerplays, stories and songs in this participatory program created especially for 2-3 year olds and their caregiver. Register for each session individually. One registration per family please. Registration opens at 9 a.m. on the previous Thursday.

Girls Night Out Book Club

7 p.m., Monday, April 7, Story Room

Read a variety of great books with your daughter, then share your thoughts and ideas in a nurturing environment. Watch your daughter grow as a read and communicator while having fun in this lively discussion group. For girls ages 10-13 and their moms. Registration for all clubs occurs when the book is checked out. Book club books are available at the Children’s Desk one month prior to the meeting date.

Chess Club

6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, Story Room

Learn new moves and strategies and have fun playing with other kids. All levels welcome, but players must know how chess pieces move. For kids in first through fifth grade.

Think those Grimm fairytales are scary in English? Try listening to them in the original! For kids ages 3-6 and family. Register online for each session.

Teen-Led Dungeons & Dragons

3:45 to 6 p.m., Thursdays in April, Learning Lab (6th grade and up)

Middle school student Sonny will be DMing a weekly Dungeons & Dragons game. Limit six teens per game. This teen-led program is moderated by an adult D&D expert to ensure fairness and good behavior.

Spanish Group

7 p.m., Monday, April 21, Meeting Room B

For teens and adults. Spanish speakers of all levels are invited to this monthly group to practice their Spanish in an informal, fun environment. No registration required.

Career Counseling

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays in April, Garden Study Room 5

WorkAble combines the services of career counselors, regional employers and volunteers to provide seamless services in geographically diverse locations throughout Allegheny County. Funded through the United Way of Allegheny County, services include career counseling and assessment, guidance in resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, networking, interviewing and connection to other resources to assist with barriers to employment.
