Above & Beyond

A NIGHT IN PARIS Nearly 500 guests sampled French food, art and music at St. Clair Health Foundation’s annual gala at St. Clair Country Club on a beautiful July evening. The annual Summer Swing event had a theme of Meet Me in Paris, and the club was decked out to look like the Champs-Elysees. The organizing team sported berets and a roaming mime played the accordion. The fundraiser pulled in approximately $370,000 to support education and learning programs as part of St. Clair
Health’s transformation into a teaching hospital. In addition to the gala, the Swing festivities included a golf tournament. This year is St. Clair’s 70th anniversary.

Dr. Jeremy Udkoff is bringing a new surgical advancement to patients in Mt. Lebanon. He is the newest physician on staff at Mt. Lebanon Dermatology, 607 Washington Road, and the practice’s only board-certified Mohs micrographic dermatologic surgeon. The Mohs surgery is a precise, cutting-edge method of treating skin cancer. During this procedure, cancerous tissue is extracted in small layers, to preserve as much healthy tissue as possible. Because of the complexity of this surgery, Mohs surgeons must be experts in three fields: dermatology, pathology and reconstructive plastics.
Udkoff was raised in California, where he initially pursued a different profession. After earning a B.A. and M.A. in Rabbinical Studies, he still felt drawn to a “fast-paced” scientific career, so he completed a B.S. in molecular biology and biochemistry, before attending medical school at the University of California, San Diego. After graduation, he completed internships and residencies at the Cleveland Clinic, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Tel Aviv Medical Center. Outside of work, Udkoff enjoys making sourdough, spearfishing, snowboarding and spending time with his wife and four kids.
