HIGH-END INSURANCE Ever wonder who insures the cars at Mt. Lebanon’s Classic Car Show?
Pittsburgh Insurance Advisors, 520 Washington Road, has been insuring classic cars since 2017.
President and owner Michael Vitanovich is a car enthusiast himself, having worked in the car business for several years. A big fan of muscle cars and high-end vehicles, he’s been fascinated by cars since he was a kid. He’s the proud owner of an all original 1990 Mercedes 500SL, with only 20,000 miles, acquired from a family member. His dream car is the red Ferrari featured in the Magnum, P.I. TV series. In fact, the most expensive car he’s ever insured was a $300,000 Ferrari, shown at the Vintage Grand Prix in Schenley Park.
There’s a challenge to assessing damage to a specialty vehicle since the value of a classic car can often be much higher than traditional policies will cover. Specialty auto insurance offers what’s called an “agreed value,” spelling out the amount you get if the car’s a total loss.
In addition to classic car insurance, Pittsburgh Insurance Advisors writes personal and commercial insurance, life insurance and disability insurance, and services Pennsylvania and several other states.
According to Vitanovich, unless you’re insuring a high-end car, a classic car policy is more affordable than a regular auto insurance policy because most people who own classic cars don’t drive them every day.
“If you have a collector’s car, like an all-original car, you’re not going to take it out and drive it every day because if it gets damaged, now it’s not original anymore. Now, it’s just like every other car.”
Mt. Lebanon’s Classic Car Show starts at 9 a.m., July 9 in the 600 and 700 blocks of Washington Road.
CLOSET DESIGNER WINS AWARD Jenna Shock, Shadowlawn Avenue, was thrilled to receive the news of her selection as a finalist in the 2023 Top Shelf Design Awards, where she was chosen as runner up in the Laminate Over 18 Linear Feet category at the National Closets Conference in West Palm Beach. Her entry was titled “Timeless and Classic Closet Sanctuary.”
The Top Shelf Design Awards are given to closet and storage professionals for their outstanding designs, not only of master closets, but garages, mudrooms, home offices, and other spaces throughout the home.
Shock has worked with Mt. Lebanon-based Inspired Closets Pittsburgh since 2012, when she started as a professional organizer.
She became a closet designer seven years later and became the lead designer in 2020. “I absolutely love what I do and the impact my designs have on our clients’ everyday lives,” she said.
While at the conference, Shock became an Association of Closet and Storage Professionals certified storage designer. ACP encourages collaboration in the home storage industry through the sharing of best practices and by providing learning opportunities.

ROWING 101 The Mt. Lebanon Rowing Club is offering a summer rowing camp August 7-10. Open to any rising eighth- to 12th-grade student in the Mt. Lebanon district, the camps do not require any experience. Participants will learn rowing terminology and proper rowing technique. Classes begin at 5:30 p.m., at Montour Marina in Coraopolis. At the end of the program, students will be invited to join the Mt. Lebanon Rowing Club as a novice rower.
