Six Mt. Lebanon High School  students have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition. MERIT SCHOLARS At the beginning of each school year, about 1.5 million high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Competition. The first step is to take either the Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test or the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Approximately 16,000 top scorers are named semifinalists in the competition. In February, about 15,000 semifinalists will be selected as finalists, and of that group, about 7,250 will receive $2,500 scholarships.

Mia McPherson Cedarhurst, is  a 2022 Women in Content Marketing Award winner.

WICMA recognizes the outstanding work of inspiring women, spotlighting specific achievements and ways these marketers have positively impacted others.

“I left my full-time job last year to be a stay-at-home parent, and through freelance writing, I can continue my career at a pace that allows me to prioritize parenthood and enjoy every moment of it. As a parent and as a writer, to receive the kind of recognition that says that what I’m doing is making a positive impact means so much,” she added.

Lebanon School District schools have received an A+ rating from Niche.com, a service that rates schools using U.S. Department of Education statistics and student, parent and teacher surveys and reviews. An A+ rating puts all of the district’s schools in the top 2 percent of schools nationwide. Niche has ranked Mt. Lebanon as the third best district in the region, sixth best in Pennsylvania and the 82nd best district in the country. Statewide, Niche has ranked Mt. Lebanon the No. 3 district with the best teachers, the seventh best place to teach and the 26th best district for athletes.
