Seth Pearlman, Twin Hills Drive, has been selected by the American Society of Civil Engineers to receive the 2020 Wallace Hayward Baker Award for Ingenious Innovation in the Field of Ground Modification. Pearlman, president and CEO of Menard Group USA, was chosen for this award due to his substantial contributions in the practice of design build ground improvement, improving the engineering properties of ground to make for safer and more effective construction. Pearlman has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Virginia. He serves on an Advisory Council to the Carnegie Mellon University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
CELEBRATE WOMEN’S HISTORY EVENT CANCELLED The Pennsylvania Women’s Hall of Achievement will honor the League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh at a luncheon and panel discussion, 11:30 to 2, Saturday, March 21, at the LeMont Restaurant on Mt. Washington. Among the honorees are Mary Larsen, a two-term Mt. Lebanon commissioner, member of Mt. Lebanon’s Home Rule Charter Committee and volunteer with the Mt. Lebanon Civic League, League of Women Voters, and Outreach Teen & Family Services.
Hayes Design Group Architects, owned by Piper Drive resident Kevin Hayes, has added new shareholders, including Carleton Drive resident Andrew Campanaro, who was also named an associate of the firm.

FREE INCOME TAX HELP APPOINTMENTS CANCELLED UNTIL MARCH 30The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is available through April 9, at the Bible Chapel, 300 Gallery Drive in McMurray, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Bring copies of last year’s federal and state tax returns; proof of identification for yourself and your spouse; Social Security numbers and birthdates for yourself, your spouse and all dependents; W-2s, all 1099s, including Social Security; 1095 healthcare statements and property tax receipts. EVENT CANCELLED The Mt. Lebanon PTA Council is partnering with South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) to help fight hunger. SHIM operates three South Hills food pantries, which benefitted more than 2,000 people a month last year.
The pantries are located at SHIM’s headquarters, 5301 Park Avenue in Bethel Park; the SHIM Family Center, 41 Macek Drive in Whitehall; and the Baldwin United Presbyterian Church, 201 Knoedler Road.
From March 23 through 27, Mt. Lebanon schools will collect high-demand items for the pantries. To eliminate excess sorting for SHIM volunteers, the PTA is designating specific items to be collected at each school. The items and schools are listed in the accompanying chart.
