Mt. Lebanon Magazine photographer Robert Papke often shares his adventures with us, and this week, we’ll take a walk with him through the Allegheny Cemetery.
The cemetery is located between Penn Avenue and Butler Street. It started as a rural cemetery in 1844 and was modeled after similar rural cemeteries in New Your City, Boston and Philadelphia. Architectural styles range from The Romantic Period, The Victorian Era, Neo-Classical, Egyptian Revival and more.
“Allegheny Cemetery is a great place to walk and ponder, while taking in the natural beauty that is part of this truly special place,” says Papke.
