A little dirt from the groundbreaking…
Several of us from the magazine/public information office attended the High School Groundbreaking last week on the grassy knoll outside the Fine Arts Theatre. We saw wonderful performances from the Blue Devil Marching Band, High School Chamber Choir, Triple Trio and Double String Quartet. Elisabetta Croce, co-president of the high school’s freshman class, gave moving remarks, as did Principal Brian McFeeley, school board President Jo Posti and Superintendent Tim Steinhauer. Municipal Manager Steve Feller was one of the dignitaries to don a custom-designed hardhat the students made for the event (to be displayed at the high school).
Everyone went inside for punch, cookies and special blue and gold cupcakes to celebrate. The crowd included parents, students, former school board members and community leaders, all of whom wore ear-to-ear smiles that the project is finally underway.
And a heads-up: As construction continues, traffic patterns around the high school are subject to change. Keep current by visiting the school district’s traffic update page, http://tinyurl.com/6qsh7ow.
