Thirteen-year-old Noah Westreich, Cedar Boulevard, loves Halloween. It’s his favorite holiday.

Yet, instead of trick or treating, for the second year in a row, he’s choosing to create a haunted yard to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Noah’s mom Monique is proud of her son. “This is his thing,” she said.

The project is very personal for Noah. He lost two grandparents and a dog to cancer.

He spends all his own money on the Halloween displays, earning cash by doing odd jobs around the house for his mom. Right now, he’s storing large animatronic displays in his room, until he has time to set them up. It usually takes him several days.

He plans to rent a storage unit for all the displays and pay for it himself.

Armed with “to do” and “buy” lists and a notebook with all the plans he’s been working on since spring, it’s evident this is Noah’s passion project.

He wants to be an architectural engineer and stay-at-home dad that runs a haunted house when he grows up. “Being an architectural engineer, I can design my own stuff,” he said.
